How did your early experiences or gaps you observed in the market shape your startup’s mission?
My first foray into data analytics began in a neuroscience lab in the early 2000s, where I was faced with the tedious task of manually analysing over 10,000 synapses from microscope images. Rather than accept weeks of monotonous work, I built an automated detection program that not only saved time but unlocked richer, more comprehensive data. What started as a solution to personal frustration soon became a tool that transformed the entire lab's workflow.
I came to realise that the problem wasn't unique to academia; it was growing exponentially in the commercial world as firms amassed vast amounts of data. I then began helping others utilise computing power alongside robust data analytics to extract the maximum information with the minimum human effort.
What emerging technologies or AI apps are underrated or misunderstood right now?
While many firms rush to apply the latest AI trends universally, we take a more judicious approach.
We've seen how the rapid expansion of large language models has created inefficiencies, with organisations using powerful (and expensive) tools for tasks that simpler methods could address more effectively.
Our edge comes from knowing precisely when to deploy cutting-edge AI and when classic machine learning or statistical approaches will deliver better results. We combine the full spectrum of analytical techniques to build solutions that are both powerful and sustainable.
How do you personally stay resilient and motivated through uncertainty?
My resilience is rooted in my faith and the deep conviction that my personal worth is not tied to the profitability of our company.
